THE MARCHE AND PICENUM AREA
Cupra Maritima is the perfect starting point to discover the Piceno area and the Marche. Piceno is a land rich in history that combine sea with countryside, hills, and mountains. Ascoli Piceno, with its wonderful Piazza del Popolo, is the capital of the province. The main square hosts Palazzo dei Capitani and the famous Caffè Meletti, a wonderful example of Italian Art Nouveau building. Not too far away, you can admire Palazzo dell’Arrengo with its art gallery and the Museum of Modern Art Osvaldo Licini. In August the Quintana procession and joust is a revived tradition, based on medieval documents and artwork. Offida is another wonderful village worth to visit, once there you can’t miss out the church of Santa Maria della Rocca and the teather Serpente Aureo. Moving a little more north in the region, we find the city of Fermo, with its wonderful square, its cathedral, and its famous art gallery. Another village worth a visit is Torre di Palme where you will be charmed by the wonderful view and the typical restaurants. For mountain lovers, Sibillini and Laga mountains offer a wide range of hikes and mountain bike routes.
